Kammprofile Gaskets for Your Industry
Kammprofile Gaskets are grooved; covered metal gaskets consisting of a serrated metallic core with a soft facing material. The Kammprofile style gasket is mainly used in vessel applications where often the gasket width is limited. Kammprofiles are also often used as an upgrade on applications currently using metal jacketed gaskets due to the improved leak tightness, ease of installation and the possibility of reuse.
The depth and profile of the groove is specially designed to facilitate densification of the facing material and create a very leak tight seal even at relatively low bolt loads and with use on flanges with face imperfections.

Properties and Benefits of Kammprofile Gaskets
- Low Sealing Stress required for installation
- Suitable for a range of chemicals
- Suitable for use in high temperature and high pressure applications
- Can be manufactured to suit standard flange applications and vessels
- Can be manufactured for use with narrow flanges
- Can be used with uneven bolt loading situations
- Soft Facing material prevents damage to flange surface
- Can be refurbished and re-used

The standard Core design is to have parallel grooves across the sealing face offering the advantages of even stress distribution.
Alternatively, a convex profile is available reducing the depth of the groove towards the sealing face centre. This alternative style of design ensures a high sealing stress in the centre of the sealing surface making it more effective for low bolt load applications
Expanded Graphite is the most commonly used facing material but others can also be used, PTFE for chemically aggressive duties and Mica for high temperature applications.
